Apparently Wells Fargo is offering it's customers an incentive to use the NFC based tap and pay system Isis. The offer is reportedly 20% off purchases and a one time $20 statement credit. Not bad! Even if you're mad at Isis for being partly to blame for Google Wallet not being the universal solution it could and should have been, there's no reason NOT to take advantage of this offer at least. You can always uninstall Isis once you get your credit! Get the Isis App on Google Play HERE. Find out more about the promotion on the special Wells Fargo ISIS Promo Page.

Another NFC Ring upstart, but this one geared towards one specific thing - only the bearer of the ring can unlock and use the phone! A company called Tuit has created an NFC Ring that along with their app will lock your Android phone in such a way that only if you have the ring can you unlock it. Right now, they are working on getting funding through Kickstarter. The ring looks a bit bulky for my taste - I don't even wear my wedding ring becasue it drives me crazy, but if you're a ring person, then it's definitely a cool concept. You can view the video below and check out their Kickstarter page here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fransen/tuit Tasker is the single most advanced app available for Android. With it, you can do many things that you'd otherwise download lots of different apps to do. But it can be a little complicated to learn and use. I've been using Tasker for several years and finally decided to create a Tasker 101 Tutorial Video Series. If you pair Tasker with an NFC App that can launch Tasker Tasks (like Llama) then you open up Tasker capabilities to be used with NFC. Anyway, if you're interested in really diving into Tasker, then check out the series! You might have thought you already knew everything you could do with NFC Tags, but did you know that you can create an NFC Tag that triggers different task depending on where you are when you tap it? That's right, in this video I show you how to use the amazing app Llama which includes both NFC and Location Based triggers to trigger different events on your phone with the same NFC Tag depending on where you are. Check it out, create your own, then go show it off to your friends! |
